In my opinion, I dont find Chris Ofili's The Holy Virgin in any way attractive. I was raised Catholic and the art does not upset me when I think of it in a religious way, it is just art and its up to the viewer to look at it in a way to help them comprehend the meaning of the piece of work. The work is explicitly anti-racist and often challenges white supremacy and its real in the streets and symbolic in galleries violence. Our government should fund any exhibit that is culturally enriching.
